Klint Kesto has submitted legislation to help opioid-dependent individuals under a drug court treatment program.“During the battle to overcome addiction, a medically-prescribed treatment may be among the options used to offset the scourge of opioids on a person’s body,” said Kesto, who is the chair of the House Law and Justice Committee. “Unfortunately, such a treatment could also be a technical violation of a drug treatment court’s requirements for participation in their program. We need to allow such treatments as another option for addressing this growing problem in our communities, not limit the opportunities for recovery.”The bill requires that any participants in such a treatment are under the direct care of a medical professional.House Bill 4870 has been assigned to the Law and Justice Committee.#####last_img
