A Condensed Guide to All of the Star Wars: The Force…

Here’s what you need to know:1. The Movie’s Theatrical Poster Was ReleasedOh. Mah. Gah. While this poster was not created by painter Drew Struzan (the man behind one-sheets for Star Wars Episode I, II, and III not to mention countless other films), it certainly seems to be inspired by his iconic designs. Fun Fact: Struzan once even designed a poster for Star Wars: Episode VI-Revenge of the Jedi. Before you go postal on us, yes, we know there is no Star Wars movie with this name. But Struzan says George Lucas had intended there to be one. “When George decided that Jedi do not take revenge,” Struzan explains, “he retitled the movie Return of the Jedi. However, when he changed the title, they did not use this same artwork. Therefore it was never used, and the original title remained with this original art.” Check out Struzan’s Revenge of the Jedi poster here.2. A Trailer is Finally HereThe very first full-length trailer for The Force Awakens debuted on ESPN Monday night during a football game between the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles (a smart move on Disney’s part, who owns both entities). Presumably the game received a significant bump in ratings thanks to rabid Star Wars fans eager for a taste of the new movie—the video has already been viewed more than 12 million times on YouTube.3. Stars John Boyega and Daisy Ridley Freaked Out Over Said Trailer and Its AwesomenessBoyega and Ridley, who play Finn and Rey in the new movie respectively, wisely thought to have someone film their real-time reactions to the footage. The results, which they both posted to Instagram, are expectedly adorable.4. You’ll Probably Have to Wait Weeks to See This ThingDid you think you could casually buy a ticket to this film a few hours ahead of your desired showtime? That’s almost as adorable as an Ewok. This isn’t Jupiter Ascending, people. Advance tickets for The Force Awakens went on sale at Fandango.com last night, and the sheer influx of buyers caused the site to have some serious technical difficulties. Even so, the ticket service experienced a record-breaking amount of pre-sales: “We have already sold 8 times as many tickets as we did on the first day of sales for the previous record holder [2012’s Hunger Games],” a Fandango rep said. “Movie theaters are continually adding new show times on Fandango to meet the phenomenal demand.” May the Force be with those of you who don’t believe in pre-ordering.
