first_img Keisuke Honda 1 AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani has rubbished claims Keisuke Honda asked to leave the club – amid reported interest from Southampton. The 29-year-old has been in and out of the team at the San Siro this season and there was talk he wanted to leave in January.Southampton had expressed an interest as they explored the possibility of using Honda as a replacement for fellow playmaker Gaston Ramirez. However, Galliani has now moved to dismiss claims that Honda wants to leave and instead insists the attacking midfielder is happy in Italy.“He’s a very intelligent lad,” Galliani told Milan News.“He has a different mentality to us Italians, because he’s Japanese. I wanted him at all costs, because he’s a great player and he’s showing it.“He always states his opinions politely. He wants to stay at Milan, and we want to keep him, he’s never been for sale and he’s never asked for a transfer.“We’re very happy with what he’s doing now. He’s doing very well, he works very hard and sacrifices himself so much for the team.”last_img
